Videobox curates restored archival history shorts. This policy explains what we publish and accept, how we handle copyright and provenance, and how we treat any AI-assisted material.

What Videobox publishes

Our catalogue is restored footage, oral histories, microdocs, archival essays, and social-history shorts of genuine historical interest. Each piece is selected for restoration quality, historical weight, and watchability, and is labelled with its category and, where known, its provenance.

Prohibited content

We do not accept or host content that:

  • Infringes copyright or other rights without clearance.
  • Depicts or promotes illegal acts, hate, harassment, or incitement to violence.
  • Is sexually explicit, or sexualises minors in any way.
  • Is graphic shock content presented without legitimate historical, educational, or documentary purpose.
  • Is deceptive — misrepresenting fabricated material as authentic historical record.
  • Contains malware, or violates privacy or applicable law.

Copyright & archival rights-clearance

We publish archival material that is in the public domain in its territory, licensed to us, or cleared by the rights-holder. We seek to verify the rights position of each piece before it enters the box. Rights questions and takedown requests are handled via our DMCA page.

Provenance

Where known, we note the source, the restoration that was performed, and the people or archives who recovered the material. We label restoration honestly and do not dress up recycled or low-effort clips as discoveries. Where provenance is uncertain, we say so rather than inventing detail.

By submitting, you confirm you hold or represent the necessary rights and grant us permission to evaluate the material.
